Dedicated to the Yelpa Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism

Losar Greeting from Tana Dungsey Rinpoche

Losar not only marks the beginning of a new year, and an opportunity for a fresh start for the world; it also marks the beginning of the ‘Month of Miracles’. It was unusual for the Buddha to display miracles, but after a Losar celebration and for the ensuing month, the Buddha displayed a variety of miracles.

These miracles served to further empower the Buddha’s spiritual teachings and to enhance meditation practices. As a result the month following Losar is widely believed to be a month wherein the benefits of our meditation practices – for ourselves and for others– are greatly magnified. It is said that it is a good time for practice and offerings. This culminates on the day of the full moon. Wednesday (Losar) marks the first day of this year’s Month of Miracles
