Many of Rinpoche’s students participated in Losar at the Tana monastery by making offerings to the Dorje Drolod puja described below.
In this degenerate age of great chaos, war, aggression, disease and displacement, it is easy to feel powerless to enact change. It is in times like these that practice, prayer and offerings are extremely helpful.
Each year in the month prior to the Tibetan New Year of Losar, the Tana monks perform a puja to Dorje Drolod “Wild Wrathful Vajra” who is one of the Eight Manifestations of Guru Rinpoche. His wrathful form is riding upon a pregnant tigress. This prayer ritual and practice is a powerful way to remove obstacles in the outer world, the inner body and the secret realm of mental suffering.
The text used at Tana Monastery for this ritual is a lengthy terma (treasure text) revealed by Yonge Mingyur Dorje, a Tibetan terton (treasure revealer) from the 17th Century. If you would like more information on this puja, please see the October 2024 Sangha teaching on Dorje Drolod where Tana Rinpoche describes this practice in more detail.
Those who sponsored this puja, furthered their connection with the aspirations of Rinpoche and the Tana monks raising the spirits and confidence of beings in these uncertain times. Their names were included in the list of sponsors to be incorporated into the puja.
